Which Episode Of ‘Dynasty’ Is Betty White’s First Appearance In?
If you follow Goldderby on Twitter or Facebook, you might have seen them promote my article about the latest season of the fantastic Dynasty. It’s incredible what they’ve been able to do to promote my work. If you’re not familiar, Dynasty is a historical reality TV show about the famous Parkers, who were the founding families of Potomac, Maryland. The show originally aired from 1982 to 1986 and was created by Leonard Parkins. It was recently revived for another season on the Pop culture network. If you’re a fan of TV shows about rich and famous people, you have to watch it. It’s definitely one of the best historical dramas you’ll see. It even won a few awards, including a Peabody, which is given to those who “distinguish themselves through creative and effective use of factual research combined with clear and concise writing.” To catch you up to speed, here’s a quick recap of the major events of the Parkers’ grand lives:
- The first season focuses on the patriarch, Blake, who is just released from prison. He’s a powerful lawyer, but now has to start from scratch.
- The second season highlights the matriarch, Amanda, who sets up an exclusive school for girls.
- The third season focuses on Alexis, who assumes the role of CEO of her family’s company. She has a strong personality and wants to overhaul her father’s empire.
- The fourth season has the young tycoons of the next generation. They are the children of Alexis and Jack, who are battling it out in the boardroom. The drama is epic as you’d imagine.
- The fifth season is set in 1963 and focuses on the Civil Rights movement. The Parkers have to integrate their newly acquired Harlem mansion.
- The sixth season is a reboot of the show and is set in the early 1900s. It brings back the original families and focuses on their struggles against the new millennium.
Where Does Betty White Fit In To ‘Dynasty’ As An Episode Writer?
You might be familiar with Betty White, as she’s well known for her annual Halloween TV specials. She has appeared in dozens of TV shows, including It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Golden Girls, and The Office. Since we’re discussing Goldderby’s coverage of Dynasty, it’s a good idea to point out that Betty White has a very important role as an episode writer on the show.
She starts out as a writer for the first episode of the show’s sixth season. The episode is called “The Apprentice,” and it’s set in the early 1900s. It’s about a young boy, Anthony, who has to navigate his way through life in a new country. There are tons of funny one-liners and memorable scenes in this episode. You might know Anthony as he’s played by Charlie Sheen.
If you want to check it out, “The Apprentice” airs Sundays at 8 pm on Fox.
Will ‘Dynasty’ Be Renewed For A Seventh Season?
As amazing as Dynasty is, it’s not like the show itself to be a cash cow. While the first three seasons were able to pull in decent ratings, it wasn’t until season four that Dynasty really started to make big bucks. That was thanks to a few high-profile deaths and the invention of the fax machine. While the show was never huge, it always found an audience willing to tune in for the soap opera antics and flashy dresses. If it comes down to it, the network will almost certainly renew the show for a seventh season.
If you’re not familiar, Fox Entertainment oversees all the TV shows on the network. They have the power to renew or cancel any show. It sounds like a long shot, but if enough people complain, then maybe they’ll listen. Hopefully they’ll realize how much they need the show and give it a decent season seven. Wouldn’t that be sweet? In the meantime, you can find all the latest news and info about the show at Goldderby.
