Creative Writing 5th Season is a brand new writing competition organized by our friends at Pocket Points. The best part? It’s open to students in grades 6-12. So whether you’re an English or Creative Writing teacher, you can participate and inspire your students to write their own tales.
How Do I Participate?
All you need to do to participate is submit a short story or novel (up to 20,000 words) between now and May 30th, 2021. The top 50% of entries (as determined by a blind judge) will then be eligible for the grand prize. There are also additional prizes for the top 25%, 10%, and 5% of entries.
If you’d like, you can enter personal or story-related information into the jury form. That way, the jurors can write personalized notes to you. You can also choose to have your story published on our blog. Finally, if you’re entering fiction (novels and short stories), you’ll need to create a blog for your entry. We’ll provide you with a free blog, and if you want to claim your prize money, you can use this platform to write and promote your book.

What Is A Blind Judge?
A blind judge is someone who doesn’t know which story is the best until all the submissions are evaluated. In the blind judging process, the judges score each entry based on a number of established qualities. These qualities include, but are not limited to:
- Originality
- Detail
- Clarity of Plot
- Overall Appeal
When it comes to your kid’s education, you want to make sure they’re getting the best possible value for their money. One way to do that is by participating in online competitions that can lead to college scholarships and other valuable prizes.
Why Should You Be Excited About This Contest?
There’s a lot to be excited about! Not only is this a chance to win some money for your student’s college fund, but you’re also being provided with a platform to showcase your teaching skills. With just a little bit of hustling, you can easily enter five books (at most) into the contest. Each book will place your voice and teaching experience front and center.
As you might imagine, the five book limit doesn’t apply to graphic novels and other fictional works. In these cases, you’ll need to choose either a novel or a short story, otherwise the entry will be disqualified. In the end, it’s totally up to you!
When Is It Going To Be Over?
At this point, you’re probably wondering when the contest is going to end. Well, here’s the thing. It never ends. The last date is always extended a few days if there are still entries being accepted. In the end, it’s totally up to you!
