When posting a job ad, there are several elements you need to include, but you might not think of. The following are some of the things you should include in your job ad to make sure you are presenting yourself as the employer you want to work for:
A Clear Objective
Make sure the reader knows what you’re looking for. Mention the duties you expect the employee to perform. Include any special requirements for the job. For example, if you’re looking for an employee to work remotely, then you might want to mention that in the job ad. In many cases, a well-written job description will help you figure out if the applicant is a good fit for the role. Make sure to include everything you can think of that will make the reader want to learn more about your company.
A Strong Work History
The more you can write about your previous experience, the better. If you have an amazing track record but lack experience in the field, then you might consider putting down what you’ve done in other industries. Remember: a successful candidate is not necessarily one with the most experience, but rather, one who can communicate effectively.
The Pay
This one is fairly self-explanatory. You’ll want to ensure that you’re not leaving any stone unturned when it comes to your compensation. You may consider including some additional information about your pay scale and how much you’re looking for, either way, it’s a strong start.
Job responsibilities
This is a pretty self-explanatory area, as well. If you’ve got the job responsibilities already written out, then you might want to copy and paste them into your job ad. Make sure you include everything from the initial job description (which might be lacking in some areas) and that you don’t leave out any important details. For example, if you’ve got a lot of administrative work to do, be sure to mention it. If you’re seeking a sales person, make sure you mention that you’re seeking someone with strong sales skills.
There are many more elements you could include in your job ad, such as how you’ll evaluate the performance of the applicant, benefits, work hours, etc. Be sure to think of everything you might need in your job ad, so when an applicant walks in the door, you can say “welcome” and get to work.
