How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy Ebooks

There are many challenges when it comes to writing science fiction and fantasy books. One of the biggest challenges has to do with editing. The more you edit your work the more mistakes you will inevitably make. Sometimes these mistakes can be quite embarrassing. This is why it’s important to go over a few things before you start writing your creative fiction.

The No. 1 Rule Of Creative Writing

The first and most basic rule of creative writing is to never, ever stop editing. Not only does this make you a better writer in the end, but it also keeps you from falling into the common pitfalls that creative writers so often fall into. Make sure that you are constantly editing and revising your work and you will make incredible progress. Remember, in the end your work is only as good as the editor that’s last edited it. So, don’t be afraid to seek out some professional help if you need it.

The Three Types Of Genres

Apart from the above, there are three types of genres that you should know about when it comes to writing science fiction and fantasy books. These are:

  • Realistic
  • Fantasy
  • Science Fiction

Realistic books are based on facts. It might be possible to write a realistic science fiction or fantasy book, but you would need to do a lot of research into the topics that you are writing about. If you want to write a realistic fiction book then try and stick as closely as possible to facts and actual events. This will make your story more believable and hopefully more interesting to read. When it comes to writing fantasy books, you have absolutely no limitations. You can create characters and worlds that seem real but are completely fictitious. For example, you can have a character who lives in the present but takes place in another galaxy entirely. While writing fantasy books, you should always remember that you are writing fiction and anything is possible.

Pacing Is Everything

When it comes to writing novels, you need to consider the pace at which you want your story to develop. There are two distinct types of pacing:

  • Action
  • Adventure

If you are writing an action-packed book that will keep the reader eagerly turning the pages, make sure that you don’t hold back on the action. However, don’t go overboard and unnecessarily complicated the action scenes. Use your best judgement and have some fun with it.

When writing adventure books, you need to keep the excitement going. The best adventures are those that are right on the edge of what can be physically accomplished. A great adventure writer will find a way to bring the reader along on the journey and not let them get bored or frustrated by the amount of action and turmoil that they encounter. When writing adventure books, always consider your audience and what will make them interested in the topic. You can add more details and make the story more realistic, but at the end of the day you need to keep the adventure spirit alive.

While writing a novel, you should approach each part as if it was the last part. This is because once you finish writing one part, you can move on to the next. However, sometimes there are unexpected delays and when this happens it’s best to keep going as if everything was normal. This will help you avoid any stress or anxiety that comes from expecting too much and being disappointed when things don’t go according to plan. So, always keep the faith and work hard.

Writing Is A Journey

Writing a novel is a journey; a creative journey that can be both exciting and rewarding, but also challenging and frustrating. Sometimes you will feel like you’re on the right track, but at the end of the day the only person who can really tell you how you should feel is you. Keep working at it and soon you’ll be able to tell people about your creative endeavours and how much joy they have brought you.
