You are on holiday, somewhere warm and sunny. The air is fresh, the pace is relaxed, and all you want to do is soak up the sun and relax. You decide to go for a swim but, before you know it, a wave crashes over your head, dragging you down beneath the surface. Panicking, you struggle to reach the surface but find yourself losing your breath. Suddenly, a great weight crushes you down, forcing you to the limit of your stamina. You take in big mouthfuls of air but still can’t seem to get enough. You feel like you’re going to die. Then, miraculously, you find yourself pulled to safety. You’ve been saved by a lifeguard. You look around in wonder. Your rescuer is none other than Thor, God of Thunder! You’d like to thank him but, strangely, you can’t find the right words. How do you describe something like that? What would you say?
The Five Stages Of Being Thrown By A Wave
Let’s be honest – when you’re in the middle of the ocean, the last thing you want to be doing is struggling for your life. It’s enough to make you lose your cool and snap at the person next to you. The struggle to stay afloat is the stuff of nightmares. It’s not a pretty sight, is it?
There are five stages to being thrown by a wave:
Stage one: You feel the pull
You awake in the night, disoriented and disturbed. You feel a sudden rush of panic as you realize you’re not at home. You scramble for the phone, terrified that someone may be injured or worse. After a few moments of panic, you gather your wits and remember where you are. You convince yourself it was just a dream. You lie down again, reassured that you’re still alive and secure. The feeling of dread and anxiety stays with you for the rest of the night.
Stage two: You hear the splash
You hear a loud splash, followed by a satisfying ‘thwack’ – the kind that makes you feel you’ve made a good hit. The sound is all the more terrifying because it comes from nowhere. Then, another wave hits, and the water envelops you. The feeling of impending doom settles over you as you struggle to keep afloat. You hear a third splash, and a roar of water erupts. You feel like you’re in a war zone. You don’t know if the water is trying to kill you or save you. It’s just there, all around you, threatening to drag you down forever. You feel like you’re trapped.
Stage three: The struggle for oxygen
You try to yell for help but lack the strength to speak. You’re consumed with terror. You feel like you’re going to explode. You reach out for anything to hold on to. Your fingernails dig into the skin of the person next to you. You feel like a piece of garbage. You dread what’s going to happen when the tide finally decides to pull you under. You can’t believe you’re going to die like this. You feel you’ll never forgive yourself. You want to kill yourself.
Stage four: You lose your composure
You lose your sense of judgment and safety. You lash out at the people around you. You’re sure they’re trying to kill you, and you’re angry and frustrated that they won’t leave you alone. You feel weak and vulnerable. You start believing the lies your mind tells you. Forcing yourself to stay afloat takes all your concentration. Suddenly, everything becomes foggy and indistinct. You don’t know if a second wave is going to drown you or save you. You feel powerless. You need to escape. You just want to give up.
Stage five: You let go
You finally give in to the pressure and lose your grip. You stop defending yourself against the water. You let go of your pride and accept the situation you’re in. You ask for help, and you hope someone will come and save you. You feel exhausted but relieved. You know you’ll be all right as long as you stay afloat. You allow yourself to drift until you’re rescued. When the boat crew arrives and hauls you onto dry land, you’re too relieved to resist. You feel like someone has finally cared for you, and you let yourself be cared for. You feel safe and secure again. You finally regain your composure, and you can begin the process of healing.
How Do You Describe That Feeling?
If you’ve ever been in the middle of the ocean, you know exactly what I mean. It’s that feeling of impending doom that creeps over you as you struggle to keep afloat. If you’ve ever had that feeling, you know what I’m talking about. Have you ever felt like that?
You’re lying in bed, deep in thought, when you feel a sudden rush of panic. You throw off the blankets and spring out of bed. You grab your phone and frantically search for the closest hospital. You dial the receptionist. “Hello,” she answers. “I need to know if there’s an emergency room near me,” you say. “Yes,” she replies, “but which floor?” “Oh, so you do have an ER,” you say, trying to sound optimistic. “I’m on the fourth floor,” she replies. The silence that follows is deafening. You feel sick to your stomach. You hang up the phone and slump back down into your bed. “The ER’s on the fourth floor,” you whisper to yourself. “Oh, thank goodness.” You feel a rush of warmth as you think of the people who helped you. You’ll always remember them and the kindness they showed you that day. You feel better. Relieved. You thank God you’re still alive.
If you’ve ever had that moment of panic when you’re in the middle of the ocean, you know exactly what I mean. It’s that feeling of dread mixed with a feeling of safety. You feel like you’re going to die but somehow managed to survive. If you’ve ever felt like that, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Did you ever think you’d see the day when you’d be describing your love for pizza in medical terms? I didn’t think so. But here we are, at the end of 2019, and I’m including pizza in my dietary guidelines. Let me explain
Pizza Has More Nutrients Than Most Other Foods
According to the American Institute of Stress, food provides more than one way to relieve the effects of stress. What’s more, foods high in antioxidants help to protect your cells from damage and may even help to reverse some of the effects of aging. Sounds pretty good to me!
Pizza has more nutrients than most other foods. It’s higher in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins B, C, and E. One slice has more potassium than a slice of bread and less sugar than a can of soda. It also has a high nutritional content, which makes it ideal for when you’re on the go. You can’t beat that kind of flexibility. You can eat whatever you want, whenever you want, and it will stick to your bones.
Pizza is pretty versatile, and that makes it easier to fit into your diet. If you’re looking for foods that are low in carbohydrates, have high nutritional content, and available at any fast food joint, then pizza is your ticket. You can eat what you want, without worrying about the calories, and feel good about yourself.
If you’re looking to lose some weight, then consider swapping out some of the more expensive cuts for cheaper, lighter cuts. The healthier the ingredients are, the better the nutrition. The fewer the ingredients, the more you’ll taste the flavor of the dough. Who wants to eat processed food when you can make something just as good at home? It’s all about preference.
Cutting down on the fat and the calories will make a noticeable difference in your weight. Instead of having extra fats and calories from the toppings, you’ll have more nutrients. The reduced carbs will make you feel less bloated and will speed up your Metabolism. Everyone wins with pizza. It’s a perfect food.
