How to Apply to UCRA Writing Program

Overview

The University of Colorado at Anschutz Medical Campus (UCAMC) has a new accelerated medicine residency program designed for a new type of doctor who wants to combine clinical and research training. This new residency program is unique in that it allows residents to gain experience in publishing while also improving their knowledge in a specific area of medical science.

The UCRA program is a 5-year program with two years of residency. The goal of the residency is for residents to gain the publication record and research experience necessary to become a successful clinician-scientist. In particular, the URAC Faculty Mentoring Program is designed to help residents build a publication record while also getting guidance from a senior scientist on important research questions relating to their specialty.

Application Process

To be considered for the UCRA residency program, applicants must meet the basic requirements listed below:

  • Masters degree in physician-oriented science
  • Strong academic record
  • Evidence of research participation
  • Commitment to a research career
  • English proficiency (IELTS or exam score of 7.0)
  • Additional requirements:
    • 1-year clinical or research experience
    • Research experience with a mentor
    • Research experience in a high-energy academic environment
    • Ability to pass the CHOP (Cardiothoracic and Orthopedic Postgraduate) Clinical Assessment Exam

Once an applicant meets the basic requirements above, they will be evaluated on the following criteria:
